Re-Democratizing the Economy

15th Basic Income Earth Network Congress

Thursday June 26th to Sunday June 29th, 2014

McGill Faculty of Law, Montreal, Quebec

The theme of the conference is to raise awareness about various practical means and issues related to re-democratizing the economy, through implementation of a guarantee for basic income. The conference will bring together academics, activists, policy makers, political representatives, NGOs, and interested public to discuss and debate issues arising from possible introduction of a basic income. This would include discussion about possible consequences for using and not using various strategies to re-democratize the economy.

Topic streams

Topical streams are based on the following questions:

·       What would re-democratizing the economy require, including economic, social,  political, and environmental requirements?

·       How would re-democratizing the economy include pursuing or not a pursuing basic income guarantee?

·       How would economic democracy and basis income help us to ensure ecological sustainability at local, bio-regional, national and global levels?

·       What revenue models would support a re-democratized economy?

·       What democratic and citizenship implications would occur if a re-democratized economy where to be reached via a basic income guarantee?

·       What are the legal and constitutional implications of having a basic income guarantee?
